India is incredible – the food, the colour, the sheer scale of the place. It’s also a country where the right vaccinations genuinely matter. Water quality varies massively, mosquito-borne diseases are present in many regions, and rabies is more common than most travellers realise.

Whether you’re visiting family, travelling for work, or doing the Golden Triangle as a first-timer, get your jabs sorted before you go.

Travel Health Tips

  • Water: Don’t drink tap water anywhere. Use sealed bottled water for drinking and brushing teeth.
  • Food: Eat hot, freshly cooked food. Avoid salads, peeled fruit from street stalls. Cook it, boil it, peel it, or forget it.
  • Mosquitoes: Dengue and malaria are both present. DEET repellent, long sleeves at dusk, and antimalarials if advised.
  • Delhi belly: It happens. Pack rehydration sachets and Imodium.
  • Prescription meds: Bring enough for your whole trip plus extras with a copy of your prescription.
